Aquariums, zoos and museums have always been at the top of our list when it comes to family fun days. When I discovered SeaQuest this summer I knew it was a place we just HAD to visit! SeaQuest seamlessly integrates hands on learning, conservation awareness and animal rescue all in one exceptionally fun package! Great for kids of all ages – yes, even teenagers will find something cool to do here like, idk, swim with sharks. Hand feed iguanas. Pet a baby sloth.
We visited SeaQuest in Folsom, CA and were treated to the VIP Interactive Bundle. Each location has slightly different activities based on their animals and we chose Snorkeling with Stingrays, Hang with a Sloth and Wallaby Encounter. These experiences are in addition to your daily admission and also includes feeding tokens that can be used for other fishy friends, birds, reptiles and mammals. This is definitely more than your average aquarium!
Each of our private interactions was guided by an Animal Whisperer that specialized in working with his or her particular animal friend and gave us an inside look at what made that particular animal special. And we never stumped them with a question! The Animal Whisperers obviously love what they do.
Olivia’s favorite activity was feeding baby boy Sid, the 1.5 year old baby sloth who was born at SeaQuest. As you would expect, he was a pretty slow guy but quite agile for only having 2-3 fingers on each limb! We fed him eggplant, cucumber and were even able to pet him.
Tala loved being able to pet the shark in the little tank and was delighted to feel its skin.
My favorite was the Snorkeling with Stingrays…and sharks…and fish. Feeding these creatures was an extra treat, for all of us! The stingrays are so gentle that you can hand feed them krill. My feet kept getting snuffled by sharks and bat rays kept blowing down my back so if you can handle that, this is an experience you MUST try! The water is chilly, wetsuits are provided and swimmers age 6+ are allowed to have solo interactions with the guidance of an Animal Whisperer.
Check out the Reel from our underwater adventure!
SeaQuest operates 10 locations nationwide and is such a special place. We spent 4 hours there, including our interactions, and still didn’t see/do everything. Which means we are absolutely going back!
Tickets start at $11.95 for kids and $17.95 ages 12+. Feeding tokens and interactions are available for an additional fee and are well worth the fun.
Thank you to SeaQuest Folsom for hosting us and to FujiFilm for the girls’ new Instax Mini 11 cameras. They loved documenting their day and are becoming wonderful little photographers.
